The Mendocino Country Independent is a monthly, countywide news paper that addresses environmental and social justice issues, local culture and the arts.
Richard Johnson, the irascible publisher of the Mendocino Country Independent Newspaper died Wednesday March 16th, 2011, while in hospice care. Christina Aanestad and Annie Esposito will continue his legacy, which has been part of Mendocino County life for decades. It is our goal to publish an excellent paper, with strong, independent journalism, worthy of Richard Johnson’s legacy.
Richard greatly appreciated your past support and your continued support is crucial to carry on the paper’s mission. If your subscription has expired, of if you would like to take out a subscription, please send $20.00 to the Independent. Payment should be made out to “Christina Aanestad or Annie Esposito” C/O Mendocino Environmental Center 106 W. Standley St. Ukiah, Ca 95482. We need to raise money immediately to release the April, Earth Day edition of the Mendocino Country Independent, Vistas and Confluence.
We are excited to be taking on such a meaningful project and intend to provide news, information and muckraking that is critical to our community and the quality of life we all expect in Mendocino County.
